Estimating efficiency programme moves forward with recommendations from Technical Committee
We've now completed the first step in the programme with our research into the vehicle damage assessment processes that exist in our market and the part that technology plays in supporting these processes. The findings of this field-based research, carried out among bodyshops, insurers and independent engineers, are helping us, in conjunction with the Audatex Technical Committee, to identify and prioritise system developments or process changes that would contribute to a more cost-effective and efficient approach.
The Technical Committee's recommendations on the changes that should be explored in order to deliver some immediate improvements include: A generic instruction e-template with an increased number of fields to be populated by insurers; the ability to split MET and panel repair times; methods look-up during panel selection; the re-ordering of images to better support the assessment; colour coded material types with MPa ratings in the graphics and in reports; and the ability to import parts prices from bodyshop management systems, plus other data exchange features.
"With this research, Audatex has made major headway in helping to identify the opportunities for improvement that exist in the body repair and motor claims process," said Chris Oliver, Technical Committee Chairman.
"As a Technical Committee we've taken this research a step further with a series of workshops to review the huge amount of data available in a structured manner based on logical work streams. The first output of this exercise is a recommendation on the processes and system changes that should be explored in order to deliver some immediate improvements to the way we currently work."
Other areas of this review will require more detailed exploration with our data providers, product development specialists and customers. We see this as an important opportunity to improve not only our system but, with support of our industry partners, the vehicle damage estimating process as a whole. We'd like to thank everyone involved for their continued support.
